Hybrid Fitness Media just announced that the 2024 GORUCK Games have been cancelled. I couldn’t find any official announcement from GORUCK on their website or Instagram, but you can read the post below:
The GORUCK Games held their inaugural event in 2022 at the Sandlot JAX Fitness Festival in Jacksonville, FL. They followed it up in 2023 with what many thought was another successful event.

For a newer competition, they attracted some big names in the hybrid fitness community over the two years they held the event. The likes of Hunter McIntyre, Carly Wopat, Katie Knight, Jarrett Newby, and Kris Rugloski all had good things to say about the GORUCK Games, including how organized and well run the event was.
Sandlot JAX Fitness Festival
It’s unclear whether or not the Sandlot JAX Fitness Festival will still happen, however, we suspect the entire festival is cancelled for 2024. The GORUCK Games was one part of Sandlot JAX, but it included other events throughout the weekend.
The Sandlot JAX website still says the event will take place on April 19-20, 2024. There are 3 speakers on the schedule, and more information about what to expect. GORUCK is still listed as the sponsor for the weekend.
Tickets are still not available for purchase, and for such a big event only 2.5 months away, that doesn’t bode well for them hosting the event.

In case you haven’t heard, GORUCK recently inked a 3-year partnership with CrossFit as the official apparel and footwear sponsor for CrossFit and the CrossFit Games. While I have no inside information that this has anything to do with the GORUCK Games being cancelled, I can’t help but wonder if it signifies GORUCK moving in a different direction with their business and their brand.
In the past two years, they have also partnered with both DEKA & HYROX to be the official supplier of ruck sacks for the rucking divisions of these popular hybrid events.

Running your own event is a massive & expensive undertaking. If GORUCK can get the same publicity from slapping their name all over existing events, and focus on developing gear & apparel to support them, it’s likely a more cost-effective way for them to make a name for themselves… and ultimately, sell more product.
