HYROX Prize Money

$30k for each major, with each winner (male & female) taking home $7,500. This is a 43% increase from last year's $168k major prize purse. World Championship prize money has yet to be announced.

Over $350,000 in HYROX prize money will be awarded to the Elite 15 in the 2024/25 season.

Is there prize money in HYROX? The simple answer is yes, but only in some races, and the prize money varies from event to event. You also need to qualify to race in the top 15 (known as the “Elite 15”) at a HYROX race in order to be eligible for prize money, and that’s no easy task.

Let’s take a look at the current 2024/25 HYROX season, which events are giving away prize money, and just how much is on the line at each event.

2024/25 HYROX Season Prize Money

HYROX is giving away over $350,000 in prize money for the 2024/25 season 🤯. The prize money is spread out across the 4 major Elite 15 races, the Elite 15 World Championship, and (probably) the new Doubles World Championship, making its debut this season.

2024/25 HYROX World Championship Prize Money

We’ll update this as soon as HYROX releases the prize money breakdown for the 2024/25 World Championships.

2024/25 HYROX “Majors” Prize Money

Each of the following HYROX Majors will award $60,000 in total prize money to the top 15 athletes in each Elite 15 division, up from $42,000 last year. This will be split evenly between the men & women, each receiving $30,000 of the prize purse.

2024/25 HYROX Pro Doubles Prize Money

The 2024/25 season will host the debut of the HYROX Pro Doubles World Championship at Chicago’s Navy Pier, but we don’t yet know if there will be prize money attached to it. As soon as HYROX announces anything, we’ll be sure to update you.

HYROX will award a total of $150,000 of prize money at this year’s World Championships. This will be split between the men’s and women’s side, each receiving half of the prize purse.

2023/24 HYROX Season Prize Money

For the entire 2023/24 season, HYROX has announced that it’s giving away over $300,000 in prize money. The prize money will be spread out across 4 “major” races, as well as the 2023/24 HYROX World Championship.

The GORUCK Championship held at HYROX Washington DC also awarded $10,000 in total prize money, $5,000 each to the men and the women.

2023/24 HYROX World Championship Prize Money

HYROX has stated that this year’s World Championships will award a total of $150,000 of prize money. This will be split between the men’s and women’s side, each receiving $75,000.

In 2022/23, only the top 8 finishers were awarded prize money.

Opinion

I love that HYROX is paying out all 15 places. For many of these athletes, it’s expensive to travel and do the race. However, I find it strange that 6th & 7th place receive the same amount, as do 8th, 9th, and 10th. I’m okay with 11-15 receiving the same amount, even though it still feels a bit weird.

$25k to the winner is a 32% increase from last year. That’s a lot. And if that’s the reason why 6th & 7th are receiving the same amount, then it’s too much of an increase. I think $21k or $22 would have been a more appropriate increase, and could’ve allowed for more flexibility with prize money for places 6-10.

I like that the smallest amount an athlete leaves with is $1,500. That’s not enough to cover the expenses for any athlete traveling outside of Western Europe, but it’s more than just paying for their entry fee. I’ll applaud HYROX for that.

2023/24 HYROX “Majors” Prize Money

Each of the following HYROX Majors will award $42,000 in total prize money to the top 15 athletes in each Elite 15 division. This will be split evenly between the men & women, each receiving $21,000 of the prize purse.

The HYROX GORUCK Championship also awarded $10,000 in total prize money. The top 3 men and top 3 women each received prize money.

HYROX Dubai

There are two HYROX events in Dubai during the 2023/24 season—one in 2023 and another in February 2024. Each event awarded $10,000 in total prize money, $5,000 each to the top 3 athletes in the men & women’s pro divisions.

HYROX Dubai, along with HYROX Doha, are the only non-major events of the season where prize money is awarded.

Each HYROX Dubai event had a total prize purse of $10,000. Here’s a breakdown of the podium payouts.

It was recently announced that HYROX Doha (Qatar) will feature $35,000 in total prize money 🤯.

All Other HYROX Events

HYROX puts on many more events than just the 4 Majors and the World Championships, but as far as we can tell, they will not be awarding prize money at them. The top 3 men & women in elite & age group divisions will still be recognized on the podium, they just won’t receive any money.

2022/23 HYROX World Championships Prize Money

The 2022/23 HYROX World Championships was held in Manchester, UK on May 26, 2023, and the total prize purse for the event was $85,000.

Prize money was awarded to the top 8 places, with the winners in the men’s and women’s category taking home $19,000 each.

2020/2021 HYROX Season Prize Money

US Championships

The 2021 HYROX US Championships were held on June 26, 2021 at the Navy Pier in Chicago, IL, USA. A total of $20,000 in prize money was awarded, $10,000 each to the top 8 men & top 8 women.

Additional Questions

Does HYROX have prize money?

Yes, but only for the 4 majors and the World Championships, and only for the Elite 15 athletes. The HYROX World Championships usually pays out all 15 elite athletes who compete.

Do age groups win prize money?

No. There is no prize money for age group divisions in HYROX Pro or HYROX Open events. Age group winners receive podium recognition and a HYROX placement flag.

HYROX Doubles & Relays also do not receive any prize money.

What do you get for finishing HYROX?

Every HYROX finisher receives a finisher patch.

In addition, each age group division has a podium ceremony for the top 3 males & females. Each podium finisher receives a finisher’s flag with their placement. Neither flags nor patches will be mailed after the event.
