How It Came About
Ryan was approached by Amber & Zach, owners of Pure Impact Fitness, after the 2022 DEKA World Championships. They asked him if he’d be interested in coming up to Canada and hosting a workshop. According to Ryan’s Instagram, he was immediately on board.
Shortly thereafter, Yancy Culp, founder & “guy in charge” at DEKA, invited Ryan to join the monthly call that Yancy has with all affiliate gyms. Ryan voiced interest in getting more involved in the community, and in short order, two more workshops were set up in the US.
Here’s what Ryan had to say:
This opportunity had me stoked & I was telling @yancyculp all about it. He kindly invited me on to the DEKA affiliate call they have once a month and I was able to speak directly to the gym owners about this idea of getting more involved in the community. Sport can be a lonely and selfish quest and it doesnβt always bring you the fulfillment you think it will. Helping others and seeing them succeed has always been more rewarding than any individual accomplishment. The more I can do with that, the better. ππΌ βRyan Kent
