HWPO HYROX Boston takes place from Friday, September 26th through Sunday, September 28th at the Boston Convention Center. Over 5,000 athletes are expected to race across Open, Pro, Doubles, Adaptive, and Relay divisions.
HYROX has released the official course map for HYROX Boston, which includes station placement, the Roxzone, and number of run laps to be completed for each 1,000m run. You’ll also find information about registration, check-in, bag check, restrooms, and more.
How Many Laps to Run
For HYROX Boston, the number of laps you have to run vary depending on which run you are on.
For the first lap, you’ll do about 2 and a half laps, and enter the Roxzone the THIRD time you see the IN arch.
For laps 2-8, you’ll do exactly 2 laps, and enter the Roxzone the SECOND time you see the IN arch.
How to Get to the Wall Balls
As far as how you’ll get to station 8, the wall balls… your guess is as good as ours. ðĪŠ
Your best bet is to watch the walkthrough on Instagram Thursday night. HYROX America does a good job explaining the entire course in detail the night before. So tune in to @hyroxamerica Thursday night for a better explanation.
Course Map Details
Let’s break down the course in more detail…
Bathrooms
There are 4 bathrooms on the course, all located on the outside of the running course.
Bag Check
Bag drop is located inside the venue, but a little walk down from the start tunnel.
Warm Up Area
As with all HYROX races, the warm up area is…
- for athletes only
- located right next to the start tunnel
There will be plenty of equipment to use to get ready for your race. HYROX provides treadmills, row ergs, ski ergs, sandbags, kettlebells, and usually some turf with a few sleds.
Hydration Stations
There are 2 hydration stations, both located inside the Roxzone.
- One is immediately as you enter the Roxzone (and subsequently, right before you exit)
- The other is bit deeper into the Roxzone, sandwiched between the burpee broad jumps, row, and wall balls.
HYROX hydration stations always have water, and sometimes will include either an electrolyte drink and/or Red Bull.
Stations
The 8 HYROX stations are definitely NOT in order, so keep your eyes peeled.
- The ski (1) & row (5) will be immediately on your LEFT as you enter the Roxzone
- The farmer’s carry (6) and sandbag lunges (7) will be immediately on your RIGHT as you enter the Roxzone
- For the sled push (2) and sled pull (3), you’ll run straight ahead, and then slightly off to your right
- For the burpee broad jumps (4), you’ll run STRAIGHT AHEAD after entering the Roxzone
- The wall balls (8) are over by the BBJs, but we couldn’t tell you exactly how you’ll get to them. It’s not clear from the map.
Grandstand
There will be a grandstand over by the wall balls, so all your friends can watch you suffer through 100 reps… and cheer you on, of course ð.

HWPO & Recovery
Be sure to stop by the HWPO tent, right after you cross the finish line. There is also a large recovery zone with chairs and water.
And leave your timing chip on so you can get your picture with your time in the background. You can hand in your chip after you leave the recovery area.
Have fun out there! ððïļ
