Is HYROX coming to New Zealand? They haven’t announced an official HYROX race in New Zealand, but with the popularity HYROX has seen in Australia, and their public statements about HYROX in the Olympics in Brisbane in 2032, we suspect a HYROX New Zealand is coming soon.
New Zealand has many upsides for a fitness race:
- Several large metropolitan areas (Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch)
- Beautiful, waterfront locations
- Several ideal venues, large enough for a HYROX event
- Over 100 HYROX affiliate gyms in the country
There aren’t many downsides to HYROX New Zealand, other than the travel required for North American & European athletes. But the Asia-Pacific region (APAC) has a huge HYROX fanbase, so they’ll have no trouble selling thousands of tickets, as the recent races in Australia have shown us.
Possible Venues
There are several viable venues where HYROX could host a New Zealand event.
HYROX Auckland
If HYROX were to host an event in Auckland, here are some possible locations:
- The Trusts Arena: Various indoor & outdoor event space, home to the Northern Mystics netball team. The indoor arena might be a bit too small for HYROX.
- Spark Arena: A multipurpose arena in Auckland, known for hosting concerts & other indoor sporting events.
- Auckland Showgrounds: An arena plus multiple pavilions. Likely a bit too small for HYROX.
- The Cloud in Queen’s Wharf: A unique, large-scale event space, originally built for the 2011 Rugby World Cup.
HYROX Wellington
Here are some possible venues for a HYROX in Wellington, NZ:
- TSB Arena: Wellington’s biggest indoor venue. A go-to venue choice for conferences, public exhibitions, international concerts and indoor sporting events.
- Sky Stadium: This would be an outdoor event. Sky Stadium is home to several New Zealand Rugby & Football clubs.
I think we might see HYROX in Zealand as early as the beginning of 2026. As with the Australian races, my guess would be sometime in the Summer months for the southern hemisphere (Winter months for northern hemisphere).

HYROX Gyms in New Zealand
You can still train for any of the many HYROX events happening all over the US, including all the aforementioned ones in Australia.
How many HYROX gyms are in New Zealand? There are approximately 105 HYROX gyms and training centers in New Zealand. You’ll find a ton of F45 gyms, as well as boutique gyms, and some CrossFit gyms that have jumped on the HYROX train.
