Meg Jacoby Sets New World Record for DEKA MILE

She beat her own previous record by 5 seconds, running a 19:14 in Horseheads, NY.

On Saturday, August 5th, 2023, Meg Jacoby ran the fastest female DEKA MILE time ever, finishing in 19:14. The event took place at Journey 333 Fitness in Horseheads, NY.

Meg broke the previous record of 19:19 by 5 seconds, which Meg herself set at the 2022 DEKA World Championships in Atlantic City, NJ.

Jacoby’s previous best DEKA MILE this year was a 20:41. We’re unsure of exactly when that occurred, but if she’s really gotten a minute and twenty two seconds fitter in 6 months or less… look out world. 👀

Meg Jacoby is also well known in the HYROX space for giving Lauren Weeks a run for her money. Lauren won the HYROX World Championship in Manchester, UK in May 2023, but Meg was right on her heels, finishing only 32 seconds back in second place, and just missing the coveted 1-hour mark with a time of 1:00:23.

She previously held the HYROX world record with her 1:01:56 performance in Chicago in 2022.

Meg didn’t have an opportunity to race any DEKA FIT races last year, but was able to squeeze in a DEKA MILE race right before the qualification period was over. And then she went on to win the World Championships. So far this year, Meg has not yet qualified for DEKA FIT World Championships. There’s four US races left to qualify, the last of which is on September 16th in Orlando, FL. Will she decide to stick her hat in the ring for DEKA FIT this year? We certainly hope so.

Update: Meg raced DEKA FIT Northeast on August 26th, took first place, and set a new women’s world record 🤯.

I think it’s safe to say Meg Jacoby is trending up, and will be a force to be reckoned with in HYROX and DEKA races for the foreseeable future.

The next fastest DEKA MILE time run this year is 19:31 by Katie Duke.

DEKA MILE Female Team World Record

That wasn’t the only DEKA MILE world record that Meg Jacoby broke at the event. She also teamed up with Brooklyn Nichols and set a new world record for DEKA MILE female teams at 16:07 🚀.
