The DEKA FIT Ultra is another variation of the Spartan DEKA format of races. It consists of 5 DEKA FIT races performed in a row, back-to-back, with no rest.
You’ll complete the same 10 DEKA zones as a DEKA FIT, as well as the 500m of running before each zone, but you’ll do that 5 times in a row.
- In a DEKA FIT Ultra, there are 50 total zones and 25km of total running
- You will complete each zone a total of 5 times
The format is very similar to a DEKA FIT, but after you finish your 20th RAM burpee, instead of crossing the finish line, you’ll head back out on the course and begin your second DEKA FIT, starting all over again with a 500m run and 30 RAM lunges.
History
The DEKA FIT Ultra format was first introduced at DEKA FIT Midwest in Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA on July 21, 2024. It was the only DEKA FIT Ultra event in 2024. (see results)
Spartan added 4 DEKA FIT Ultras for the 2025 season, plus a final DEKA FIT Ultra World Cup at DEKA FIT Austin on September 5th.
- In 2024 & 2025, no qualification was necessary to compete in the World Cup. Anyone could register.
Divisions
There are two divisions for the DEKA FIT Ultra:
- Elite
- Age group
Time Cap
There is a time cutoff for the DEKA FIT Ultra, and it differs based on which category you choose to compete in.
- Elite Men: 3h45m
- Elite Women: 4h15m
- Age Group: 9 hours
Elite athletes who miss the elite time cutoff but still finish before the course closes will receive a finisher’s medal, however they will not receive an official DEKA mark on the leaderboard.
Pit Crews
For the DEKA FIT Ultra, there’s a separate pit zone area where designated pit crew members are allowed to assist athletes with nutrition and anything else they might need.
- Pit crew members must purchase a separate ticket for $25. Same-day tickets are available on-site.
- There is no limit to the number of pit crew members you can have
- Space will be limited & distributed evenly amongst all competitors
- Food & hydration support is only allowed in the pit zone
DEKA FIT Ultra World Cup
The DEKA FIT Ultra World Cup is the championship event for the DEKA FIT Ultra format. Unlike the DEKA FIT, DEKA MILE, and DEKA STRONG, the Ultra championship does not happen at the DEKA World Championship—it’s a separate event held at a regular DEKA FIT throughout the season.
See below for more info on the Ultra World Cups each year.
